The creative city of Gimhae will nurture the cultural industry based on
"Crafts and Folk arts" and move toward sustainable development.
Gaya Culture Festival which started in 1962 is Gimhae's representative traditional culture and arts festival held every year between April and May. The festival was started to commemorate the spirit of King Suro who founded the Garakguk Kingdom and to unite citizens by preserving and developing color culture of Gaya. It holds Gimhae Julddaenggigi (tug-of-war) and various other folk events, cultural performances and hands-on experience programs.
